Week 9 Posting - LTE and Beyond
Hello everyone and welcome to week 9! This week I'll be discussing what's on the horizon for cellular network technologies.
5G promises speeds of up to 10gbps, and features lower overall latency, helping to sustain communications between the multitude of connected devices people have in their homes, vehicles and workspaces. Below is a great video by CTNtechnologynews about 5G and it's other exciting capabilities.
A couple concerns I have about 5G are the costs that are going to be passed to customers. Being able to download data 66x faster than we can now could potentially mean blasting through your monthly data in a matter of days, or less. We have until 2020 to save up and demand true unlimited data access though.
